The Joys of C

I get to work on a C API for my work's clients to use. I got the Java and PHP versions working. Now I have to get the C version working. The thing is: there isn't a C version. So I get to start from scratch, which is nice. Working with Java and perl and PHP takes all the challenge out of programming. It will be nice to be back to getting down and dirty with a real compiler and a language that is unforgiving of errors.

It's funny, but I have the most fun working with either a really low level language, C, or Objective-C, which is a much richer object oriented language. I'm either right next to the machine or far away from it... Perl is nice, but you can't get low level enough at times. Java, well, I just don't like Java. It's got some nice features, but it's, well, Java. Objective-C is the best of both worlds. C++, well, the less said the better. There is only one system on which C++ was a fantastic language to work with (R.I.P. Be, Inc.). C++ is just to complex to be anything close to elegant.
