Sigh

I have finally finished what was supposed to be a two day contract. I started last Thursday and finished today at 1:00PM today. There were a couple of technical snags that held me up, including a rewrite of the main functional interface of the program. All I can say is: be damned sure of your production environment and the available libraries/modules before you begin working. I assumed that the production environment would be like my development one. The dev environment had a module that I figured I'd use in order to make the management and configuration of the program as easy as possible for the client. It worked really well, until I put it into production and found the module wasn't installed. Argh! I ended up having to rewrite the main interface in a hurry. It all works, and has all the same functionality, but it will now be a lot harder for the client to configure and manage.

Still, it felt good to not only work with people I like and respect but to also do some interesting work. The pay check will be especially welcome as I have just learned that all I can expect from unemployment is $146 a week. They calculate how much you get by looking at the previous years wages. Guess who didn't have a job last year? Yup. Fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck...

To make things worse there is nothing on except some really bad anime movie. Bah!

Still, the past few days of work were nice.
