2 days, 13 hours

In the last 2 days and 13 hours MT-SpamLookup blocked 1508 comment spams from the weblogs here at, without a single false positive and only one or two missed spams, which I was able to add to the blocked words list. While the amount on attempted spamming has not lessened at all (in fact I think it's gone up) at least the number of spams that make it through is almost non-existent. I'd say 99.99% of all comment spam is being caught.

B3ta - Guinness Ice Lolly

I'm speechless...

B3ta - Guinness Ice Lolly: "

To speed up the freezing process I turned on the 'Super Freeze' button on the freezer and waited for a couple of hours, then I popped the ringpull with the slushy Guinness inside, gave the can a little shake and waited for the head to settle, after this was done it was back in the freezer until it was done...

Unexpected, this is...

I only wish I had enough hair for it to look spectacular...

Revenge of the Sith

Vicki and I went to the midnight showing of Revenge of the Sith last night. We were both a little melancholy, I think. After all, this was the last time we'd be watching a new Star Wars movie for the first time, and we are both huge Star Wars fans. We both had pretty high expectations.

We were not disappointed. Quite the opposite. This is the movie I have wanted to see since I was six years old.

I expected to be a bit sad when the movie came to a close, but instead I found myself thinking "This is right, this is how it should be." It was like a sense of closure, I guess. I wasn't sad at all. Everything was put in place and all the questions were answered. It all fit.

The movie itself was amazing. There were scenes that you kept thinking they can't keep this intensity up, and yet they did. The opening battle is mind blowing. And the dual at the end was so fast and furious you couldn't imagine it going on as long as it did.

The story is very tragic, very dark, and some parts are very graphic. Much more so than I though they would be, but I'm glad George Lucas didn't hold back. It was what we have wanted to see for a very long time.

George Lucas, on behalf of my inner six year old boy, thank you!

Stupid printf tricks

This came in handy today:

$padding = 30;
$header_len = ($padding - strlen($old_header));
$message = sprintf("%s%{$header_len}s", $old_header, $new_header);

And now I have consistent spacing between $old_header and $new_header. I love when I rediscover old functionality I had forgotten.

Comments on the blogs are fixed...

I noticed that comments were horribly broken. I had so many anti-spam plugins enabled that they were breaking comments altogether, so now I am just using MT-SpamLookup. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Data video

We got an email recently from a new fan. (Never mind that the band broke up three years ago, we are still getting new fans.)

Anyway, our newest fan, Henry, apparently got so bored he made a video for the song Data:

You can download it here:

I thought it was funny. I especially like how Rick twirls his drumsticks. A nice touch, that.

Oh, yeah. Did I mention that Henry is 12? He is. We corrupt them as early as possible, you know.
