I haven't posted anything in a long while, so here it goes:
The situation with the war and our current government is so incredibly fucked that I can't even comment on it. I find myself beyond the usual anger. It's like all I can do is put my face in my hands and shake my head. Sometimes I can't even listen to debates about it. No longer do I wish to debate people who WANT to be blind. I don't wish to explain my side of it. I simply want to pick them up, throw them to the ground, beat the hell out of them, and feel better because there is one less dumbfuck around me. Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know.. that's the way they operate. So what, I still feel like it.
There are so few bands I like these days. I'm talking new bands. Sure I can listen to old bands nonstop, but I wish something new would make me want to see a gig. I sample stuff from a.b.punk hoping to find a gem and I'm left disappointed. Hell can't get good old stuff either, maybe I already have it all.
I recently played my (probably) last hockey game ever. It was a championship game against the biggest bunch of bitchy cheapshot artists I've ever encountered on ice (or sport court). We kicked ass, winning 9-1. With about 5 minutes left I almost felt bad for them. A linemate looked at the score and commented, "couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of assholes!" Thanks bro, you brought me back to reality. It was hard to let go of playing, especially after a season that lasted 6 months. You get close to teammates, always watching each others backs, standing up for each other, drinking like crazy after a win (or loss).
Last night I had a dream that LG played a reunion show. We had zero practices and no setlist. I asked Mat which songs we were playing. He said "Let's wing it." There wasn't a single song that all of us could remember. We each could remember a few songs, which meant we had 20 incomplete songs (Sean couldn't remember any lyrics, and turned over vocal duties to some teenage girl). The crowd wasn't too disappointed as it consisted of only two cholos.
The Anaheim Ducks are about to win the Stanley Cup. The very thought makes me cringe. It breaks my heart to realize the last time I saw MY team win a hockey championship was during the 1980 Olympics. The worst part about a Duck victory won't be seeing a banner in Honda Center, nor a parade of orange clad Cal-Trans looking fans in the streets... it's will be next year's nonstop gloating from Duck homer announcers Ahlers and Hayward. Fuck I hate those guys.
Dario Franchitti won the Indy 500 proving nice guys do finish first. That guy is absolute pure class. Just need the Flying Lizards to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I'd like Sebastian Bourdais (Team Peugot), Tomas Enge (Aston Martin Racing), and Liz Halliday (Noel Del Bello) to win their respective classes too.
Oh yeah (Ed and Rick will agree with me here), fuck basketball! I hate this time of year because the Cup Finals get overshadowed by the NBA playoffs. The biggest people in the world bitch like little kids over the slightest bump. Jack Youngblood played the Superbowl with a broken leg. Tomas Enge raced the Utah Grand Prix for 3 hours with a shattered elbow, a partially collapsed lung and a torn ankle. NHL players take stitches on the bench and won't miss a shift. Shaq calls in sick for 5 weeks due to a sore toe. NBA = No Balls Allowed.
Work is so fucked I can't believe it. Once the old man died some committee of idiots took over and now the world's largest parcel delivery system is collapsing from within. Look, if your company is celebrating it's 100 year anniversary maybe things don't need to be changed too much. Maybe you've been doing a good job. I hope the fast ship in the shipping business doesn't sink before I retire.
I had to make the hardest decision in my life. It has killed me for nearly 3 years. I finally made a choice and am having a hard time forgiving myself at times. Sometimes I feel I made the right choice, sometimes I feel I had no choice. Never do I feel happy about it. My best hope is that those around me will forgive me.Posted by lare at June 05, 2007 07:52 PM
