Bandwagon?

Maybe I'm a masochist, but I take pride that I'm not a bandwagon fan. It's easy to be a fan of a Super Bowl champ (btw, did you notice a lot of Tampa jerseys today?), or any team who happens to have a good year. But I only follow one sport and have ONE favorite team. I don't see the point in having a second or third favorite team. Sure, I like watching some other teams because of some of their players (Boston Bruins - Glen Murray, Dallas Stars - Mike Modano), but that's only when they aren't playing my fave.

Btw, it's not hard to be a fan of the Los Angeles Kings these days. It's a bad year with over 230 man games lost to injuries. Jumping ship to the flavor of the month is just stupid.

I Got the Shaft...

Some asswipe in a Red Wings jersey from Team 3 of the La Verne Hockey Club falls knees first on my stick. The thing just snapped in two. Bastard!

Sure it's fun shopping for equipment, but not when you're replacing a $100 shaft that's still new.

I don't like Mondays...

I'll tell you why...

It seems like "weird" stuff happens on Monday. Strange things at work, strange things at home, not really bad stuff. Just weird. I get a slight sort of nervousness every sunday night. Usually it's just from wondering what area I'll be working in. But part of it is knowing something strange is afoot.

Today's bizarreness (is that a word?), was working in two very different areas. Two vastly different areas. I went from east Whittier to south Whittier. People from east Whittier like to say they are from "East Whittier" like it's a separate city. You know, the areas where every few blocks have a nickname.

So I drive down to south (no capitalization) Whittier. What the fuck is up with poor people? I'm not ragging on them because they earn less. Most work harder than yuppies. And they're doing shit jobs that middle class people couldn't do any day of the week. Believe me it has nothing to do with that. My problem is "CLEAN UP YOUR FUCKING YARD!"

Last I checked, picking up old cans, newspapers, and dog shit was free. It doesn't cost anything to gain some respect for your home. The trash collectors come once a week, not once a decade. Every house I went to was a sty.

The Second Coming..

..of the Warpigs has arrived. Before I go off to our slaughter, let me once again remind everyone that we plan to rule the penalty box throughout the season. No mercy will be given (even to my old team from Brea) and many beers shall be consumed.

OINK! OINK!

Whiners!

Geeeeeez, listen to all the grumbling from my fellow hockey enthusiasts. Sorry, since Rick doesn't blog, I can't link to him.

After 3 hours of skating with them, Brendi and I skated for about an hour. After that, it was an awesome "come from behind" win at La Verne. I was really tired, but I would have played another game if I had the chance.

It's similar to playing a great gig. You are dead tired. You're dripping with sweat. You know there's a load of equipment to drag home. But the experience is too good to ignore. It's like a perfect set in front of a wild crowd. You don't want it to end.

Now That Peak is Over...

I'm tripping out on how backwards things are. From the start of peak until December 26th, I didn't go over 9.5 even once. Not once did I go under D. Despite having a runner, constant ODSs, and OCAs from around the map, my route was always in range. Keep in mind that I still have to follow H.A.B.I.T.S., perform pretrips, not lose the DIAD, keep the DVA intact, and avoid service failures. Oh yeah, the 340 Methods are still in effect too.

So why is it that AFTER peak has ended, I've managed to work under 9.5 twice (inclding today). My SPORH is better, miles are average, and TGR is a lot higher. I had 13.01 on Monday on four trips and one road call (it should have been two, but one was on property). It paid crap. I was +2.39.

WTF!
