Poison, Poison, Poison, Tasty Fish...

My first experience preparing sushi went well...

Nobody died or suffered food poisoning.

Iron Chef 'aint got nothing on me

Lemon chicken in a creamy broccoli sauce
Spiced long grain and wild grain rice
Scalloped red potatoes topped with cheese
Brussel sprouts bathed in butter
Spinach salad

So that was my menu for my first shot at cooking meat. I used to cook a lot but that's when I was a vegetarian. I quit that hippy shit a few years ago and have never learned to cook anything that once screamed. It was a lot of fun too. Nicko helped me quite a bit. Brendi got to lay back on the couch, watch TV and do absolutely nothing while I worked my culinary magic. She's always made awesome stuff for me and it was good to return the flavor. So good, that this will have to become a regular activity for us.

Getting Off, On the Clock

You know you must like something when you spend every waking moment doing it (as long as energy holds out). But when you start taking extended lunch breaks to get some afternoon delight in the back of the company truck, you know it must be good!

What could be better?

How about running a marathon (not that kind of marathon) all weekend. Right when I'm about to complain about feeling old someone finds a way to inspire me (repeatedly - OK about 7 times every 24 hours). Just imagine what kind of shape I'd be in if Nicky was away this weekend.

Feels good to be 18 again.

Conjunction Junction, What's My Malfunction?

My son brought home a CD with classic recordings from ABC's Schoolhouse Rock. I remember seeing these short animated clips inbetween saturday morning cartoons. When my son was about 2 years old he started watching them on VHS tapes. It's amazing how catchy songs can sit in your brain, unbeknownst to your conscious mind, only to replay OVER AND OVER AND OVER during your day.

So I went through my day and had these songs flowing in my brain until I was literally singing out loud although it may have been silly and made me look insane or drunk but I couldn't resist the melodies and lyrics.

"And", "but", and "or" will get you pretty far!

It's really weird. I only heard maybe three songs. But all the songs were brought back to me. Multiplication Rock, Science Rock, America Rock, Grammar Rock, I know them all.

3, 6, 9, 12... Three, it's a magic number."

I guess it's quite an accomplishment considering these cartoons were written and recorded in someone's spare time. I doubt anyone hasn't had at least one grade benefit from Schoolhouse Rock.

And every body understands those telegram commands and you know that everybody better listen.

Luckily, I was able to see these as a kid and hopefully my son will learn from these masterfully done clips.

Indubitably.

Crash Different...

It's not only PCs that drive people nuts.

I'm sure Ed will hate this.

Fun Reading a Gaming BBS

I crossed the BBS for the Planetside beta I've been testing lately. I swear, gamers are the funniest people around. I mean that in a bad way. Here's a few quotes (names have been deleted to protect the 'tarded):

Also, mag rider is the best vehicle in the game :0 Any bridge that's over water... you can drive your mag rider across the water and run a full bridge of enemies over, coming from behind. If that's not fun THEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS!

Someone called me a Communist Jewish Nazi Penquin once.
I called him an Inbred Hippy and then he called me a Bigot. For some reason.

You hot chicks will run to us, because it takes a Real Man to wear Plum Coloured Codpeices.

ur all fucking nerds

OMG. I'm one of them!
