Jock Rock Heavy Metal Leg Iron Gush..

I've just spent way too much time downloading various bands from all of the world. I can honestly say punk music is in a sad state. Maybe it's the sign of my impending trip into "middleagedom" but I didn't find one thing I liked. To show how bad it was, I replayed the Smash Clause 28 EP by Chumba and it sounded fast and energetic, better than all the other stuff. Sigh.

Hi-Fi, Lo-Fi, Sci-Fi's My Fi...

Sorry, Bis lyrics, couldn't resist.

I think people forget the fi in sci-fi stands for fiction. When I was a kid, Battlestar Galactica was a favorite show of mine. Yeah, I know. It was campy at the end... even to a 7 year old. Nonetheless, it was the best thing considering Star Wars wasn't a TV series. OK, classic TV series that lasted less than two years, no big deal, eh?

When the SciFi network decided to remake Battlestar Galactica into a mini-series I thought, "Hey, that should be nostalgic... cool." I watched it and thought it was pretty good. It wasn't too generic. The ships actually move like they are in space instead of the usual Lucas treatment, projectiles and missiles instead of lasers, and the characters aren't totally black and white (literally, Lorne Greene as Adama has been replaced by Edward James Olmos, Dirk Benedict's Starbuck is now played by a woman, etc.). I tried looking up some info on the original just to see what I've forgotten in the last 26 years.

Damn! People are insane. Message boards are filled with people calling for the new producers to be hung. It's like blashphemy or something. True, this micro series (all 2 episodes) was short and slow to start, and sex was used to keep people interested for the first hour. Lame, but thinking of the average SciFi network audience, you can see the target demographic. Long threads about how bullets can't work in space, or the cast is too PC, or one freak you spouted a diatribe about Galactica being a liberal plot to destroy God in the United States. Seriously.

I'm all for freedom of speech, but can we include an IQ test requirement somehow? I felt like posting "Shut up, enjoy the show or change the channel!" Contributing to the fray just seems like a waste.

For the LOTR Squids...

It's amazing how many spoilers float around that always end up being wrong. I bet this last part of the trilogy will be the same.

Recent Observations...

I pinched a nerve in my neck while working. I try to work through the pain until I'm literally staggering to a house. Some guy comes out and asks what wrong. I tell him my neck is messed up and he pulls a Mr. Miyagi on me and pullsthe muscles out of place and back again. He was a highly decorated medic in Vietnam and learned accupressure there. It got me through the day.

Last Thursday the rain came pouring down. After 10 minutes of downpour, some old man was still standing in his front yard watering the lawn.

A pit bull jump five feet in the air, balanced on top of a chain link fence, and barked at me. I was about two feet away. Fearing that I would soon be pit bull caca, I raised my DIAD board in the air to whack him back from whence he came. The neighbor yelled at the dog and he jumped back. Lucky dog.

While at an elementary school, a kid walked past me and said "Good afternoon, sir." Think about kids today. This was really weird.

Last night the Warpigs had our first game of the season. We won 3-0 against the team that beat us in overtime last playoffs. Woohoo! A teammate of mine was struck with a violent seizure last night. It was scary. For 15 minutes we could do nothing but stand back and keep his air passage clear. It's so difficult to see a friend struggle and there is nothing you can do about it. Thank God he was fine afterward, just exhausted.

After the game three Nazi dipshit skinheads were watching a hockey game. Strange, I thought Geraldo kicked all their asses. I can't remember last time I saw nazis. It's such a dead fad.

I saw a sticker on a stop sign that said "Blame Dana."
