A new Senate bill could outlaw the iPod and other mp3 devices. The reasoning is that companies who produce such items are inducing you to commit a crime (obtain copyrighted material).
Read about it here.
Help out here.
This is fucking ridiculous. Might as well ban all car stereos that play mp3s as well. Hell, why not ban CD writers and the VCR too. What about dual deck cassette recorders?
I don't know if the music industry truly is a mafia that pulls the strings of government officials or if our elected reps are just trying to justify their paychecks.
At the recent 7 Seconds gig in Anaheim I picked up a copy of Live Magazine. With the usual gig and record reviews it's a fairly standard zine. One line from a gig review (Western Decay, UFB, The Skabs, Dxix, Narcoleptic Youth, and RKL) just freaked me out.
Next but not least RKL (Rich Kids on LSD) (no one that I talked to, nor myself knew who they were...)"
There's the proof. It's a fact. I am truly old. Of course anyone close to my age knows RKL. Whether you like them or not isn't the issue, just the fact that you know the name. Maybe Nardcore is forgotten?
Someone recently told me that my blog was offensive and I should censor certain topics.
Ummm, yeah, like that'll happen.
Opinions are like assholes, everyone has them. The problem is the assholes now have opinions.
I've never been in a management position. I can't see myself being a masochist enough to join management at my current employer. With some employees being difficult I guess it's easy to become cynical. But every once in a while I'd like them to be human.
When I called in today asking for a day off because of a medical emergency, I was told "It's not a good day for this."
No shit, asshole!
Look, next time I'll ask my 8 year old nephew to have a scary episode on weekend when it's more convenient for you, dickhead. I don't care if there isn't someone around take my spot for the day when a serious emergency is going on.
The arrogance of some shitfaced guy in a suit is astounding.
The most excellent Rogue Brewery has a Beer Manifesto which is a clear, concise statement on all things beer.
My favorites/most important parts are:
I. We hold that beer is a superior beverage.
II. We hold that beer is worthy of passion.
.
.
.
V. Beer is made from basic ingredients of water, malt, hops and yeast.
.
.
.
VII. Beer flavors occur as a result of radical discontinuity between the old existence of its ingredients and their new existence as beer.
.
.
.
XIII. Large scale brewers have ruined beer.
Good read.
Read the post below then come back to this one.
Before taking the "stage" at LG's first party, I remember Ed saying, "Wow, I'm not the badass from Media Children anymore."
ROFL!
I've been listening to LG's 2nd CD the last couple of days. I almost forgot how well the guys could rip out some tunes. In an age where I can't make it to gigs often, and newer bands rarely hold my interest, cranking up an old CD is like a shot in the arm. The crazy thing is listening to these songs doesn't remind me of playing a gig with them. All I picture is a backyard party or the Hong Kong Cafe.
Cheers guys, from a fan who had the pleasure of being at your first gig.

I just spent the last 4 days in Illinios. It is a completely different world than Los Angeles. For one thing, walking around in downtown Chicago is a great experience. Where L.A. feels like a new metropolis for a few blocks (before turning into a seedy underworld), Chicago feels clean and relaxed throughout. In the two full days we spent downtown I never once stepped on a crack addict. Someone told me it feels like a coastal city since Lake Michigan is right there. I figured they were high since I'm from So Cal and I know what a beach should look like.
You know, it feels like a coastal city. Lake Mich. is ... well, a great lake.
We did some of the tourist-type stuff ( Sears Tower, Navy Pier, etc.) but the best part was seeing friends and getting to hang out with them again.
Some memorable moments from the midwest:
Brendi meets Rori.
As promised, Rori got her ears flapped.
The horses stay in a wonderful pasture with plenty of room to run around.
Leave it to Brendi to spot a pink sequince coach.
Ed checked the tuning of the local musicians at the beer garden.
Chicago is the birthplace of modern architecture and it shows.
Chicago is home to works of art by Picasso and Chagall ( Brendi's favorite ).
Ed and I met the person responsible for the Great Chicago Fire (allegedly).
Brendi got to her hero's place of work (one day after the season ended).
We rode a HUGE ferris wheel. Within 10 seconds of getting on, Brendi remembered she's afraid of heights.
Vicki got to kiss the site of an infamous Steve Ignorant autograph.
Meanwhile back in CA, Maggie was a true guard dog.
Memorable quotes from the midwest:
"If you 'aint down with the nyuck, nyuck..."
"If you 'aint down with the soitenly..."
"He's gonna die!!!!!!"
Ed ordering a drink: "Give me a couple of Hi Balls!"
The next LG dvd: "Litmus Green Does Chicago!"
It's pretty cool to look back at comments to your blog and wonder "How did I miss this?"
